God’s handiwork is on daily display in this world. “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. “Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.” Even God’s “invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made.”
When we think of the splendour of the created order, we often think of stunning natural vistas like the Grand Canyon or the Nile River or the Mediterranean Sea or the Antarctic. But the nuclear technician, the genetic researcher, and the molecular biologist are also given a front row seat to a spectacular display of the created order that reveals the eternal power and divine nature of the immortal God who created all things.
The LORD, with wisdom beyond our comprehension, has created and maintains a world of splendor that is organized in a remarkable symphony of systems, cycles, and feedback mechanisms that allow the earth’s temperature to be well-regulated, the earth’s orbit to be kept in check, and the earth’s inhabitants to be fed, watered, and protected from the sun’s radiation.
This dynamic world, with seasons and cycles that bring us new reasons to praise God every day, is an exclamatory proclamation of the glory of the immortal God!
